Tehran – Iran’s Ambassador to Oman, adviser to Haisam Al-Sanani, and Mohsen Ziaei of the Fars Cultural Heritage Bureau recently met and spoke about promoting mutual cooperation, particularly in the medical tourism sector.
According to Irib, both sides emphasized Shiraz’s special status as one of Iran’s top tourist destinations, taking into account the opportunities available in the health and treatment sector.
The state tourism director said Shiraz boasts unique potential in the medical field.
He explained that modern hospitals, specialized medical teams and treatment services with world-class standards have made Shiraz one of the region’s leading health tourism hubs in recent years.
Pointing to the launch of a comprehensive health tourism system, he said that through the system, medical tourists can access complete information about permitted hospitals, health tour services offices and specialized tour guides.
The system will accept requests directly, provide services and register possible complaints from health tourists, he added.
Ziaei continued that complaints relating to travel services offices and medical centres will be handled through legal mechanisms and strict supervision to ensure the health and satisfaction of medical tourists in full.
Arsanani also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the field of health and tourism, describing Shiraz as a city likely to attract tourists in Oman, highlighting the strengthening of communication between the two countries in the region.
At the end of the conference, the two sides emphasized the development of joint cooperation, introducing Shiraz’s medical capabilities into the Persian Gulf Arab countries, promoting the presence of healthy tourists from Oman.
The comprehensive medical tourism system is being implemented in three provinces: Tehran, Khorasan Razabi and Faz, and will be implemented across Iran in the near future, Deputy Tourism Minister Anuban Moseni Bandopei said in mid-August.
He explained that the system is planned to integrate services and create transparency given the need for processes related to the arrival of medical tourists, the Ministry of Tourism announced.
Based on the decisions of the Health and Tourism Strategy Council, it was first carried out in the pilot programme and then in experimental ways in Tehran, Holasan Razabi and Fars provinces. He added that Sharibar, Iran, will be implemented nationwide by the end of the month.
Mohseni Bandpei continued that the system’s platform was designed and implemented so that the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, International Patients (IPD) Unit, travel agents, medical tourists, doctors, tour guides and even translators all perform activities within the framework’s realm.
