According to Mehr news agency, Mohammad Shuweik, principal of Mansouri Public School, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a town in the Tire district of southern Lebanon.
Earlier, Al-Mayadeen reported that an Israeli drone crashed a car in the town of Mansouri on Sunday night.
Lebanon’s Minister of Education Rima Karami condemned the attack on Principal Shweik, expressed her condolences and called for protection for the school, teachers and students.
Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that Israeli FPV drones dropped sound bombs on a gathering of civilians in Al Daira village, but no casualties were reported.
Additionally, Israeli occupation forces targeted a well in the town of Odaise with smoke bombs.
Earlier today, Israeli Merkava tanks opened fire on UNIFIL members near Israeli-built positions in Lebanese territory, UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon reported on Sunday.
UNIFIL said in a statement that the soldiers, who were on foot patrol, were forced to evacuate after heavy machine gun fire hit them about five meters from their position, and confirmed that no UN peacekeepers were injured.
Peacekeepers described the incident as a “grave violation” of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
