Tehran – An online photo exhibition entitled “14 Elegies” was announced on the Artibition website on Friday, marking the 43rd anniversary of Khorramshahr’s release.
The exhibition features works by war and documentary photographer Alfred Jago Hobzadeh. It was curated in collaboration with photographer Ramesh Rahiji, Irna reported.
“The elegy in the dictionary refers to a combination of lament and grandeur, and sometimes the undertone of music – resembling the image from that time that places us on the nuance of Holamshaal and the glory of resistance and freedom and the sorrow of destruction.”
“Sometimes, language fails to express the living experiences of people during and after the war, and at such moments, images have the weight to record those experiences for history. That is why everything that is carried along a rich and quiet rhythm is captured in the “liberation of Khorramshahr” in the sense of “liberation of Khorramshahr.”
“Many unforgettable images have been formed between the difficult times of Iran and the world and the turning point of modern history. However, due to the timing and important role in which this event is presented in the exhibition, works attributed to the “liberation of Holamshaal” are featured in this exhibition. ”
Alfred Jaghotzede, 67, was born in Tehran to a family in Armenia and Assyria, and is known for his war photographs. He has captured enduring images from some of the most important political and historical moments in modern Iran and the world.
His photographs in Iran during the 1979 Islamic Revolution and Iraq wars led to his work for the Associated Press, Gamma, and Sigma press.

In Lebanon he was injured and taken hostage, and in Chechnya he was injured in the shell of a tank. He was also injured while covering the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
He also investigated the liberation of oppressed Christianity in Eastern Europe following the collapse of communism. Published as Christianity around the world, he recorded religious rituals and rituals in 24 countries over the course of a decade.
Yaghobzadeh has published three photo books: “War Iran-Iraq,” “Faces of War,” and “Peace of Promises.” He has also received several prestigious photography awards, including the World Press Photo Award, the American Foreign Reporter Award, the three Angel Awards in France, and two trials at the World Press Photo Contest.
The liberation of Khorramshahr was the recapture of Iran in the city of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq war on May 24, 1982. The city was captured by the Iraqi people early in the war on October 26, 1980, shortly after the Iraqi invasion. The success of the city was part of Iran’s Operation Beit ol-Kadas. It is recognized as a turning point in the war, and the city’s liberation is celebrated annually in Iran on May 24th.
In seizing Khorramshahr, the Iranians captured around 19,000 soldiers from the now-present Iraqi forces. Saddam Hussein was shocked and furious at the defeat and the fact that the Iranians pushed forward despite the heavy casualties. Iranians were preparing to keep Iraqis driving. After his defeat, Saddam Hussein executed some of his top generals.
The “14 Elegy” online exhibition will be held on the Artivision website until June 2nd.
