TEHRAN – About 50 historic homes have been identified in an old quarter of Ra in the southern province of Faz, but only 10 have been engraved on the national heritage list, the local Cultural Heritage Director said on Saturday.
Sadeq Zare’ told ILNA that 40 more historic homes need to complete the registration file, conduct research and prepare maps based on national registration indicators.
He said 4,000 historic monuments have been identified across the state that require a national registration file, but the state registration file has not been formed due to restrictions such as credit and lack of staff from experts.
He added that over 3,230 historic monuments, 10% of the country’s nationally registered monuments are in Fars County.
Zare’ recalled that last year, 90 historic monuments from the state were added to the National Heritage List.
He added that efforts are being made to register around 100 historic monuments nationwide this year.
The credit allocated to the national registration of the Fars State Historic Monument is 660 billion rials ($733,333) and a good budget was also allocated from the Department of Petroleum’s social responsibility for the Fars State Historic Monument, he said. However, he added that apart from the relevant budget for archaeological excavations and the protection and restoration of the state’s historic monuments, credits must be allocated to the national registration of the Fars historic monuments.
The large historical texture is the state’s second most valuable texture after Shiraz. Most of the historic houses are related to the Kajar period, many of them are related to the Zand dynasty.
