Tehran – Over 100 global NGOs lash out at the “fatal” and “militarized” aid delivery systems of Gaza’s Israeli occupation regime.
The joint statement called for the immediate lifting of Gaza’s lockdown and the dismantling of the “so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” saying “Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice: the risk of starvation or shooting.”
Under the new distribution system of Israeli occupation regime, “starved, weakened civilians are being forced to trek through dangerous terrain and aggressive conflict zones for hours.
The statement warns: “Thousands are released in chaotic enclosures and fight for limited food supplies. These regions have become sites of repeated genocide, blatantly ignoring international humanitarian law.”
The organization reported that “orphaned children and caregivers were among the dead, and that children were hurt by more than half of the attacks on civilians at these sites.”
Due to Gaza’s health care system, the group warned that many of those shot by Israeli occupation forces while trying to access aid “defend life-saving medical care beyond the reach of ambulances.”
They said these measures were “part of a system designed to maintain a cycle of despair, danger and death.”
“This is not a humanitarian response,” the statement noted.
Signed by more than 100 organisations including Borderless Doctors, Save the Children, Oxfam International, Amnesty International and Norwegian Chefugee Council, the declaration warned that “concentrating more than two million people in a more limited area to support families is not a life-saving plan.”
Since occupying regime forces ruled food distribution in Gaza, the group reported more than 500 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 4,000 injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid.
The statement highlights how the previous UN-RUN network of 400 AID points has been replaced by a militarized site surrounded by just four fences. “These areas have become sites of repeated massacres,” he warned, saying that children and caregivers are among the dead and ambulances cannot reach the injured.
Fuel, water and medical supplies are rapidly disappearing, forcing families to survive without clean water, electricity or a functioning hospital. “The family is evacuated under plastic sheets and operates a makeshift kitchen inside the tiled rub,” the group reported.
They say, “In a state of serious hunger and hunger, many families are too weak to compete for food. Those who have managed to get food often come back with some basic items and are not ready.”
The NGO has called on third-party states to take concrete action to “end the suffocating siege, maintain the rights of Gaza civilians, access aid safely and receive protection.”
They urged international donors not to fund militarized aid efforts that violated international law and puts them at risk of atrocities. Instead, they called for a return to the UN-LED system, including UNRWA and Palestinian civil society.
“We repeat the urgent demands to enable these atrocities and end the popular immunity that denys Palestinians their fundamental dignity,” the signatories said.
“This normalization of suffering should not be allowed to endure,” they added.
