“Around 88% of Gaza schools require reconstruction or extensive rehabilitation,” the UN agency said in a statement.
“This includes 162 UNRWA schools that once served hundreds of thousands of boys and girls.”
Refugee agencies lamented that the Israeli war with Gaza had evacuated, traumatized and taken away Palestinian children.
“Education in Gaza is a victim of the war,” he added.
The Israeli Army renewed its fatal attack on Gaza on March 18, shattering the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in January.
Almost 51,000 Palestinians, most of their women and children, have been killed in Gaza in the brutal onslaught of Israel since October 2023.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Joab Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case in the International Court of Justice due to its war with the enclave.
