According to Alireza Sarmadi, South Pars includes a total of 39 platforms, of which 37 will serve as production platforms and two as support units. He said 35 of the 37 production platforms were scheduled for a major overhaul in 2025, ensuring stable gas output over the winter.
Repair and maintenance work on the 29 platforms has been completed so far, but overhauling the remaining six platforms is underway and will soon be finished, adding that maintenance work on the remaining six platforms will be completed in the coming days ahead of the country’s peak gas consumption season.
He added that major repairs are currently underway on the phases 3 and 4 platforms, with four platforms, from phases 22 to 24, in total. In total, 82% of platforms planning an overhaul in 2025 have completed their maintenance operations.
According to Shana, Southpurs supplies more than 70% of Iran’s natural gas needs, and it is important to maintain stable production from this shared sector during the cold season.
