Foreign Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that a joint meeting between Pakistan’s Ministry of Communications and the Iranian embassy will be held soon to follow up on the agreements reached and accelerate progress on related issues during talks with Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Reza Amiri Moqaddam.
He stressed the importance of taking concrete steps to strengthen trade and connectivity between the two neighboring countries, saying, “Over the past six months, we have witnessed increased cooperation between our two countries.”
The Pakistani minister expressed hope that the trade volume between the two countries would reach $10 billion, adding that all necessary measures would be taken to resolve issues related to entry and exit of Iranian commercial trucks at border crossing points.
The Iranian ambassador said that the level of relations between Iran and Pakistan is currently at the highest level in the past 40 years, noting that a series of high-level talks are scheduled in the coming weeks.
Following recent talks between Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, the two countries agreed to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion through the development of transportation infrastructure. This is a move that reflects a shared determination to expand economic cooperation.
