The big Prime Minister’s welcome to President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal by Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif has attracted criticism at home, with some political figures warning that the government’s stance can be seen as being too closely in harmony with Washington at the expense of Palestinian concerns.
The plan is reported by removing Hamas from future governance and establishing a transitional technical committee that includes Tony Blair and Trump-led “Peace Commission.”
Critics say the structure risks dividing Gaza from the West Bank and ignores Palestinian consent.
Pakistan’s voice was a condemnation of Senator Arama Raja Nasir’s proposal, evoking protection of the UN Charter, and accusing the proposal of Jamaat e Islami as “flawed and unjustified.” The veteran figure, called Shebaz’s Stance, was called the betrayal of historical solidarity.
The minority provided careful optimism: Mushahid Hussein said he flagged possible binding amendments, including a schedule of the unified Palestinian state and Jerusalem status.
