The test comes as Pakistan strengthens its defense and maritime security following a brief four-day conflict with nuclear-armed India in May. The two countries exchanged drone, missile and artillery fire until Washington brokered a ceasefire on May 10.
Pakistan Navy Admiral Naveed Ashraf and senior scientists and engineers witnessed the flight test, the military said.
“Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenous ship that launched an anti-ship ballistic missile,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement, Arab News reported.
“This weapon system is capable of attacking maritime and ground targets with high precision.”
The military’s media wing said the weapon system is equipped with state-of-the-art guidance and advanced maneuverability features.
“The successful flight test is a testament to Pakistan’s technological prowess and Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national interests,” ISPR said.
In early November, the Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a flight test of an indigenously developed ship-launched ballistic missile with a range of 350 kilometers.
