The Pakistani Navy is holding maritime exercises with naval participation along with ships, aircraft, special operation forces, Explosive Weapon Disposal (EOD) Marine Corps team and observers from over 60 countries, news television reports did.
The event, according to organizers, aims to strengthen maritime security and promote international cooperation in the face of regional and global challenges.
Combat ships, which are part of a delegation from the Iranian Navy, will also be present in the drills, which will be held from February 7th to 11th.
On the sidelines of the exercise, the Iranian military delegation will be taking part in the first Aman dialogue, focusing on maritime cooperation. They will also meet a variety of delegations, including Pakistani military officials.
Pakistan officially invited Iran to participate in the exercise during a recent visit to Islamabad by Major General Mohammad Bakeli.
Admiral Abdul Munib, commander of the Pakistani Fleet, worked on the inauguration of the event, highlighting the importance of joint operations and naval stability.
Munib said the country is gathering to protect the oceans because evolving maritime challenges require collective effort.
“We don’t have the strength to tackle these challenges alone,” he added.
He said that international exercises provide a common basis for sharing information, enhancing mutual understanding and identifying areas of the common interests of all participating countries, and maintaining stability, peace and prosperity. We focused on identifying areas of joint interests.
This year’s Aman’s dialogue is focused on “Safe Oceans, a Prosperous Future” with a focus on security challenges in the Indian Ocean.
Since its founding in 2007, Biennial has been holding the “Aman” series.
