Tehran – Historic village Palangan is preparing to host the annual Hezar-Daf Festival, one of the region’s most important cultural and spiritual events, celebrating the traditional music of the western Iranian region.
This year’s edition of the festival, meaning “1000 Drums,” is supported by a wide range of infrastructure improvements and safety measures to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for visitors.
Kurdistan lieutenant governor, Kiumers Habibi, announced on Saturday during a planning session with local officials and cultural heritage representatives that Palangan is ready to welcome tourists and participants. “The event attracts a large number of visitors each year and takes extensive measures to improve both the village’s infrastructure and public services,” he said.
Known for its mysterious and communal drumming, the festival will captivate traditional music lovers, spiritual seekers and tourists from Iran and beyond.
As Habibi said, preparation focuses on ensuring the comfort and safety of visitors. These include providing wheelchairs to disabled people, installing directional signs throughout the main village routes, and identifying accident-prone road sections that lead to Parangan, where warning signs and traffic restrictions are in place.
To maintain order and security, law enforcement is deployed along the village’s main locations and access roads. Additionally, the Red Crescent Association is present in the area to provide emergency and medical services during the event.
The village’s communications system and internet connections have also been upgraded, but public facilities such as toilets and prayer areas have been renovated. Clear signage guides visitors from the entry point to the main festival grounds.
Furthermore, environmental protection is also a priority. “We are committed to preserving the unique natural environment of Palangan,” pointed out Habibi, adding that environmentally friendly garbage bags will be distributed throughout the region to minimize environmental impact.
He emphasized that the cultural credibility and ecological integrity of the festival must be preserved. “This is not only an important cultural celebration, but also a potential pathway to global recognition of Palangan’s future as a unique cultural heritage site,” Habibi said.
The Hezar-Daf Festival is expected to attract large crowds again this year, celebrating not only the rhythms of traditional Kurdish and Persian music, but also the harmony of culture, spirituality and nature.
