TEHRAN – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bakar Karibakh said on Monday that the Palestine issue has become the most important concern of global public opinion, urging the Islamic world to raise the political cost of normalizing relations with Israel.
Speaking during a meeting in Tehran with Jamil Matsuhar of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Karibah stressed that the Islamic Umma must oppose efforts to portray the government in a way that is responsible and tolerated ties with the Israeli regime.
“We have to make normalization a cost for those countries,” Kalibaf said. “It is our common responsibility to ensure the suffering of the Palestinians and the light form of Gaza.”
He praised the Palestinians’ continued struggle, describing it as a source of pride in the Islamic world, and expressed his hopes for the prompt liberation of the Secretary-General of the PFLP, which is currently being held by Israel.
On his part, Mazar thanked Iran’s unwavering support and called the Iranian parliament “a parliament of resistance.”
He paid tribute to the late Hassan Nasrara, Ismail Hanie and Yahiya Singwar as martyrs, recognising their role in the fight against Israel.
The visit to Matsuhar coincided with the 36th anniversary of the death of the late Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic. He believed Imam Khomeini to have made Palestine a central cause of the Islamic world, and praised the Iranian revolution for standing by oppressed people.
Mazar also thanked the Iranian parliament for consistently defending Palestine at regional and international forums. “We value Iran’s solid position at all levels as we stand up to the war that unfolds over the Palestinian people,” he said.
Matsuhar described the October 7 operation as a “turning point” in conflict with Israel, claiming it had dealt a major military and security blow to the regime, supporting resistance and altering the balance of deterrence.
He further praised Iran’s recent “true promise” missile operations as a strategic success, saying they played a key role in reshaping the rules of involvement.
Finally, Matsuhar congratulated the intelligence breakthrough reported to Iran, saying that such progress would enhance Iran’s attack capabilities, and was said to have revealed Israel’s sensitive sites through documents obtained.
