The Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee stressed in a statement that “the fingers of the resistance forces still protect the triggers to protect Iraq and its people.” It also includes Iraq as part of this project.
The US troops have launched an actual withdrawal from Ain Al-Asad base in Anbar province, western Iraq.
The transfer included personnel and equipment to bases in northern Iraq and Syria.
According to Iraqi security sources, the base is expected to be permanently closed by mid-September, with the US limited to Erbil’s troops of less than 500.
The announcement of the imminent closure will fear that withdrawal will be an additional factor complicating Iraq’s political and security environment, and that it will end the international collish combat mission, despite its purview of the framework of the agreement between Baghdad and Washington.
In a statement Thursday, Iraq’s Resistance Coordination Committee confirmed that the coordination framework called on Congress and the government to take responsibility by mandating US troops to have a realistic and complete withdrawal and ensuring full sovereignty in Iraq.
One prominent source of resistance fact revealed to Al Akbar that the resistance “clearly informed the government that it would not abandon its arms” (particularly, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, announced the Greater Israeli Project, where Iraq is part of the project.”
He added: “The government considers the issue political, but we see it as a citizen, and we have a bitter experience with occupation.”
Commenting on these developments, Ali Al Masawi, leader of the coordination framework, told Al Akbar that while it appears to be a step towards ending America’s existence, it does not mean that Washington would abandon its influence in Iraq. He thinks timing is very sensitive. It coincides with the approaching elections and believes it could put Iraq under further security, political and economic pressures.
However, he emphasizes that the framework views withdrawal rather than as a direct security threat, but as an opportunity to enhance the capacity of the Iraqi army and achieve full sovereignty.
