The Washington Post reported Sunday that the US Patriots’ surface-to-air missile systems are poorly performed when intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.
According to the publication, the Patriot is the only system currently available to Ukrainian forces that can intercept Russian ballistic missiles. However, the newspaper highlighted that even this system could not intercept recent attacks, partly due to the fact that Russian experts are modernizing their weapons to avoid these systems.
The newspaper also said that one patriot system was recently moved to Ukraine by Israel, but several more are expected to arrive from European partners this fall. Nevertheless, the Washington Post stressed that dozens of such systems would likely be needed to bring air shield similarities across the country.
