TEHRAN — The third pomegranate harvest thanksgiving festival was held on Thursday in Satiari village, Paveh province, Kermanshah province, attended by thousands of tourists.
According to Miras Alia (CHTN), Director of the Kermanshah Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Dariush Farmani said that one of the programs planned by the Kermanshah Department of Cultural Heritage for tourism development is event-based tourism.
He further added, “We are pursuing several goals by organizing event-based tourism. One of them is to discuss the intangible heritage that goes back to our beliefs, traditions and creeds. We perform rituals of specific beliefs in each region.”
“Today, the Pomegranate Harvest Thanksgiving Ceremony was held to commemorate the inscription of the intangible heritage on the National Heritage List.It is our responsibility to introduce this intangible heritage to other parts of the country, especially to the younger generation.”
Mr. Farmani further added: “In these events that we organize, tourism development is our goal, and in addition to the introduction of intangible heritage, several things happen that this event will significantly contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in the region.”
He said, “With this Pomegranate Festival event, all accommodation facilities in Pave City as well as in neighboring cities have been fully booked in the last few days, and bed occupancy in the region has reached 100%. Therefore, holding such events helps to maintain our national identity and recognize our identity, and can also have a great impact on the development and job creation of the region.”
Mr. Farmani continued that one of the benefits of Ulaman’s inscription on the World Heritage List in 2021 is the development of tourism and the development and job creation it has brought to the region.
He said that until last year, the total number of residential beds in Kermanshah province was about 4,400, but in the past year, 3,000 residential beds have been added to the province’s residential beds, 80 percent of which are in the UNESCO-designated Ulamanat region.
He stressed that “the holding of tourism events has been motivated by the development of tourism infrastructure in the region, which has developed infrastructure and attracted investors. Therefore, we hope that the people and local officials will feel the responsibility to introduce Ulaman and preserve its architectural values, traditions and beliefs, linguistics and anthropology, and given this global registration, there is a need to hold world-class events.”
Mr. Farmani said that in addition to organizing special events, the Kermanshah Cultural Heritage Department intends to introduce the tourism potential of Ulaman’s world-class landscape to the world.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to all those who worked hard to organize the Pomegranate Harvest Festival, saying that, dear Iranian people, the valuable hospitality of the guests who gathered for this event from all over the country deserves gratitude.
