This is a story of two men, their great friendship, and the importance of living life to the fullest. Zorba, a Greek worker, has an extraordinary personality, energetic and unpredictable. He goes to Crete with the anonymous narrator and ends up working in the narrator’s lignite mine, and the two develop a unique relationship. The two cannot be separated any longer. The narrator is an intelligent, modest, and unassuming person. Zorba is free, energetic, and beyond polite. During the journey, he becomes the narrator’s greatest friend and inspiration, helping him understand the joy of living.
Zorba is highly regarded as one of the most remarkable figures in the literary world. He is a character in the great tradition of Sinbad the Sailor, Falstaff, and Sancho Panza. He responds with passion to all that life has to offer, whether supervising workers in a mine, confronting a mad monk in a mountain monastery, or embellishing stories of past adventures.
“Zorba the Greek” explores the beauty and pain of existence, inspiring readers to reevaluate the most important aspects of their lives and live to the fullest.
