Tehran – Persian carpets, which have been on display in one of the buildings at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva since 1935, have returned to their location following renovations to the building.
Ali Baleini, ambassador to Iran and permanent representative of the United Nations office in Geneva, wrote in a post on the X social media page.
He explained that the 85-square-meter carpet was donated by Iran in 1935 to the National Federation (often called the “predecessor” of the United Nations). It is considered a valuable part of the United Nations historic heritage, he added.
It is worth noting that there is a precious Persian carpet at the UN headquarters in New York, and Saadi’s poem is written in the golden thread in the center.
