The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held on Monday in Tianjin, China.
In his remarks, President Pezeschkian said “I feel there is no distance between the people of both countries,” emphasizing the importance of deepening connections between the two sides and addressing obstacles to collaboration. He reiterated the need for a stronger partnership to promote mutual growth and understanding between Iran and Pakistan.
In their discussion, the Iranian president emphasized the need for Muslim countries to cooperate in addressing common challenges. He expressed concern over the poverty and conflict facing Islamic society, and argued that it is unacceptable that these issues will last. He pointed out that if elites and experts from Islamic countries are united in resolve, they can lay the foundations for solving common challenges and achieving shared goals.
Pezeshkian also gave a palatable dol to the Pakistani government and the people following the recent flood disasters that they claim to live in the country. He emphasized that the impacts of climate change can be effectively managed through scientific advances, and that he has expressed Iran’s preparations to promote peace, prosperity and stability in the country and the wider region.
President Pezeschkian also condemned the ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza, and criticised the international community’s silence and accomplice in these actions. He said it was totally unacceptable and inhumane for people to deny access to food, water and medicine and lead to the suffering of innocent children, women and men.
Prime Minister Sharif has acknowledged repeated expressions of Iran’s president’s sympathy over flood victims. Sharif told the leaders of the Islamic Revolution that it was warm, and Ayatollah seided Ali Khamenei and highlighted the constructive impact of President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Pakistan.
“Your visit brought great joy to our people and sparked enthusiasm among the Pakistani business and economic circles,” he said, urging an increase in exchange and cooperation to serve the purpose of their discussion.
Sharif stressed the need for Iran and Pakistan to work together as members of the Islamic bloc to achieve higher Islamic goals. He called for a unified stance among Muslim countries against the genocide and atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza, and advocated a strong defense of Palestinian rights.
