TEHRAN – In a call Friday afternoon, Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the central importance of Iran’s relations with neighbouring Iraq, describing it as one of the most important pillars of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy.
Speaking to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, President Pezeshkian emphasized the deep cultural, historical and strategic ties between the two countries, saying, “The people of Iraq are brothers, not our neighbors. Our relationship with Iraq is one of the most important areas of Iraqi foreign engagements.”
