At a joint meeting of high-ranking delegations from Iran and Armenia held in Yerevan on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s consistent desire for stability and peace in the Caucasus region, underscoring the importance of considering Iran’s concerns in light of new developments.
The Iranian president has expressed his serious commitment to maintaining close ties with Armenia. He announced Iran’s preparations to promote the finalization and signature of a strategic long-term cooperation program between the two countries.
He also highlighted the need for communication and consultation between Iran and Armenia as relations and cooperation is expanding in all sectors, and to overcome obstacles and challenges to achieve mutual goals and implement existing agreements.
Pezeshkian pointed to deep historical, cultural and civilized relations between Iran and Armenia.
In response, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his satisfaction with President Pezeshkian’s visit and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to maintaining friendly and historic ties with Iran. He pointed out that Tehran and Yerevan have a diverse range of capabilities that should be utilized to serve the interests of both countries.
Pashinyan also emphasized the strategic importance of the shared border with Iran for Armenia, saying that cooperation with Tehran based on strengthening good neighbours and friendly relations is paramount. He assured that Iranian considerations will be taken into consideration in the construction of the new corridor and that Armenia has expressed preparations to finalize a strategic long-term cooperation agreement with Iran.
