Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian and Qatar Sheikh Tamim held a joint press conference in Tehran on Wednesday.
“Nearby Qatar provinces enjoy special status on Iran’s foreign policy agenda,” Pezeshkian said at a press conference.
According to the Iranian president, “new ways to expand relations with Qatar have been explored,” they said at a meeting held before the press conference.
Pezeshkian also said Iran is trying to pave the way for more regional cooperation.
He said Iran would respect Syrian sovereignty and add that Syrian people must decide their destiny.
“Muslims must adopt new measures to help the Palestinians in Gaza,” the president further emphasized, “Gazans in particular should live a safe and secure life on their ancestral lands.” .
Qatar Emil Sheikh Tamim called for consultation and coordination between regional states at times of tension.
He said he was discussing international issues in the region and wanted constructive dialogue among his neighbors.
Emile also said he supports a deal that could lead to prosperity in the region.
He further emphasized the need for a permanent Gaza ceasefire.
“The provision of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza must be guaranteed,” Sheikh Tamim further noted.
The chief also highlighted the expansion of trade ties between his country and Iran.
