TEHRAN – When Iranians began the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday after witnessing the crescent moon, President Masuud Pezeshkian issued a message to Muslim leaders in the region, asking them to alleviate the pain and suffering of Palestinians and Lebanese people who have been exposed to the attacks of Brutar Israel for 18 months.
“With this holy month blessing and the collective efforts of leaders of Muslim countries, we witness greater efforts to expand and strengthen cooperation among Muslim countries and to reduce the suffering of Palestinians, including those oppressed in Gaza and Lebanon,” Pezeshkian wrote in a message on Sunday.
Since October 2023, more than 46,000 Palestinians and 3,000 Lebanese have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon. In addition to the vast massacre, the regime has left vast destruction in both territories. Israel has also taken Western Asia multiple times over the past 1.5 years to the brink of a massive regional fire.
Since the beginning of the latest wave of Israeli violence, Iran has repeatedly called for a gathering of Muslim states under attack to limit the scope of violence in its regime. Tehran said people with close ties to Israel must cut off at least short-term ties.
Analysts have long warned that omissions over Palestinian causes in West Asia and Israeli aggression would be more expensive than allowing the administration and its patron, the United States, to direct the situation. Egypt and Jordan are currently facing this reality. Because US President Donald Trump is putting pressure on them to host more than 2 million Palestinians he plans to banish from Gaza, threatening to cut off financial aid if they refuse. Both scenarios write about trouble for two Arab countries tackling important economic and social predicaments.
