TEHRAN – President Masuud Pezeshkian says Iran is “ready to engage in dialogue” to alleviate possible concerns about nuclear activities “on the basis of mutual interest and respect.”
Pezeshkian spoke in a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (also known as MBS) on Thursday afternoon.
The dialogue between the Iranian president and the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia is due to the US repeatedly poses military threats to the Islamic Republic due to a peaceful nuclear program that violates the UN Charter and international law.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought war or conflict, and the non-spiritual use of nuclear energy is not inhabited by our safety and defense doctrine,” Pezeshkian told bin Salman.
The president said, “Iran is ready to engage in dialogue to alleviate certain tensions based on mutual interest and respect. We are not seeking war with any country, but we have no doubts about defending ourselves.
Pezeshkian also said it is possible for Iran to lead a mechanism to fully verify nuclear activity and to ascertain their civilian nature as they have in the past few years.
On his part, the Saudi Arabia Crown Prince said “it could effectively help Iran, Saudi Arabia and other regional countries effectively strengthen stability and peace in the Western Asia region.”
He also said, “Saudi Arabia is ready to play a role in denying tensions and anxiety in the region.”
The Iranian president and the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia made officials and countries prominent in Eid Al Fitr.
