Speaking at an event held to commemorate the opening of a 250-megawatt solar power plant on Saturday, Pezeshkian said his administration is ready to address all obstacles to the rapid development of solar power projects and create a more favorable environment for private participation in the renewable energy sector.
He emphasized that ensuring an adequate power supply is one of the administration’s top priorities, adding, “We must proceed to ensure that no factory faces a power shortage next summer. This is the administration’s top priority.”
The President said expanding solar energy will not only help address power shortages, but will also be a major step towards protecting the environment by significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Mr. Pezeshkian further emphasized the need to focus on solar power development in southern Iran, particularly along the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, noting that the regime’s extensive development plans for these coastal areas, especially the need for desalination facilities, make solar power projects in the region even more important for sustainable regional growth.
