These initiatives aim to transform maritime transport through synergy between procedural reform and executive authority. In his New Year’s message, Rasouli highlighted the pivotal role of maritime-oriented development and the large investment in achieving economic goals.
Amirabad Port: Capacity expansion and transport enhancement
When visiting the port of Amirabad, Rasori announced that the port capacity would increase from 7.5 million tonnes to 10 million tonnes. Emphasizing the rail infrastructure at the port, he highlighted its important role in enhancing the transportation of goods.
He further emphasized that in the year of “investment in production”, the investment process for the country’s ports will be streamlined. This approach coincides with three key strategic pillars of his New Year’s message: “Marine Economy”, “Transit”, and “Logistics Management.”
Regional meetings to promote cooperation
Rasouli pointed to a meeting of Interstate Economic Cooperation Organizations (ECOs) along the coast of Caspia, revealing plans for future bilateral and multilateral meetings to expand port activities.
He highlighted the need to accelerate project implementation and reduce investment barriers by supporting private investors.
Supporting the private sector at the Feredunkenar port
On his visit to the Port of Feredunken, Rasuli reiterated that strong support for investors is on the absent from the PMO’s core policies.
Referring to the possibility of ports in fuel storage, grain handling, and mechanized equipment, he highlighted the need to hold professional meetings with investors to eliminate obstacles and optimize existing facilities.
Rasouli also said that supporting investment and eliminating excessive bureaucracy is one of the top priorities of the PMO. He also announced plans to modify the contract and economic model, adapting to the country’s evolving economic situation.
Nowshahr Port: Large capacity for cargo handling
Visiting the Port of Nowshahr in the early spring of 2025, Rasouli reaffirmed the need for maritime development and strengthening its export and import capacity.
According to Rasouli, the port has shown positive performance in cargo handling over the past two years, further increasing capacity with the necessary infrastructure strengthening.
He described the revision of investment regulations and procedures as a fundamental step to revitalizing ports, arguing that investment barriers should be removed quickly.
Facilitating: the key to port development
Summarying the PMO’s new policy, Rasouli emphasized that support for the private sector must prioritize the PMO’s support and eliminate investment obstacles to pave the way for industrial growth and national economic development.
Concluding his remarks, Rasorli said transport and logistics are the driving forces of the country’s economy. He expressed his hope that the New Year will witness a real promotion and greater private sector participation in port activities.
