He made the remarks during a meeting with organizers of the Allameh Naini International Conference in Qom on Thursday.
Ayatollah Khamenei described Allameh Naini (1860-1936) as a scholarly and spiritual figure of Iraq’s Najaf Seminary. He emphasized Naini’s intellectual legacy, especially his systematic approach to Usul science (principles of jurisprudence).
The Leader also noted the role of Alameh Naini in mentoring the distinguished student and pointed to his extraordinary political acumen as reflected in his influential but underrated book, “Tambi al-Ummah” (Awakening of the Nation).
According to Khamenei, Allameh Naini’s political philosophy was rooted in his belief in establishing an Islamic government. He interpreted Alame Naini’s framework of Islamic popular government into what is now known as the Islamic Republic.
At the meeting, Ayatollah Alireza Alafi, Director of the Islamic Seminary, reported on the program and activities of the Allameh Naini International Conference.
