Larijani, speaking at a seminar in Tehran on Sunday, noted that adversaries led by the United States have not claimed that Iran does not need to enrich uranium, and will then demand that Iran limit the range of its missiles.
“Now they say we shouldn’t enrich, and the same people who approved enrichment now say we shouldn’t enrich. So they’re opportunists. Their demands are endless. After enrichment, they’ll say reduce the range of the missiles and do the same things in the region that we’re saying,” Larijani said.
He added: “We believe that these demands require national resistance. Iran and Iranians themselves must stand up to this.”
“We are not saying that we will not negotiate. Our leaders have always told us that we should go to negotiations, but such negotiations have to be real and not something where we are told in advance that there will be a result,” said a senior Iranian security official.
