“I appeal to the people of the United States to stop those who are madly seeking to start a war in the Caribbean,” the President of the Bolivarian Republic told the Conference of Lawyers for International Law, attended by representatives of 35 countries.
“The U.S. government’s violations of human rights and international law are not directed at Maduro or Venezuela or even South America or the Caribbean, but at all of humanity.” The broadcast was carried out by the Venezolana de TV channel. “Our American brothers and sisters should be the first to know this,” Maduro said, giving his last words in English and the slogan, “Venezuela wants peace.”
He also noted that in the Caribbean “the unity of Latin American peoples opposes imperialist attempts to provoke war.”
“Today we are witnessing a powerful global solidarity movement, uniting millions of people like never before to raise their voices in defense of the right to peace, sovereignty, self-determination and a future for the peoples of Venezuela, Colombia, South America and the Caribbean,” President Maduro stressed.
