TEHRAN – Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and expanding direct flights.
The Russian leader made the remarks on Friday after signing the Comprehensive Agreement on Mutual Cooperation between the two countries at the Kremlin, CHTN reported.
He also noted that Russia and Iran are working on a visa-free tourism agreement, underscoring the potential for closer cooperation in this field.
Furthermore, President Putin emphasized that the two countries are working to expand transportation facilities, including increasing the number of direct flights between Tehran and Moscow, in order to further promote mutual tourism.
“Tourist exchanges are expanding, increasing by about 21%. Transport communications are developing,” TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying in a meeting with Pezeshkian.
“According to the Ministry of Culture, significant progress has been made and in June this year there will be a day to experience Russian culture in Iran. We are waiting for it and are preparing for it,” Putin said. added.
While congratulating the progress made in the tourism and transport sectors, the Russian President also stressed that the current level of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has not yet reached the full potential of bilateral relations. The Russian President said that the level of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Iran still does not match the capabilities of both countries, suggesting that there is room for growth in this regard.
