US President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) on October 13 and attend a ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to mark the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to the US President’s work schedule released by the White House Press Office on Saturday.
President Trump is scheduled to arrive in occupied Palestine on the morning of October 13, after which he will meet with the families of prisoners held by the Palestinian movement Hamas and address Congress. No further details were disclosed.
The US leader is expected to arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh at 10:45 a.m. GMT and take part in the aforementioned ceremony. Soon after, he leaves for the United States. On October 10, President Trump said he would meet with leaders of many countries in Egypt.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi’s office earlier announced that leaders from more than 20 countries had been invited to attend a peace summit in the wake of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, but did not specify who would attend.
The Israeli military announced on Friday that the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect at 9 a.m. GMT, and Israeli forces began deploying along the updated line of deployment. That began a 72-hour countdown to the release of prisoners held by the Palestinian movement Hamas in the warring enclave.
