Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China-Russia relations have become an example of a massive relationship characterized by permanent rare friendships, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation, CGTN reported.
XI spoke in consultation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China at the Shanghai Cooperation Agency (SCO) Summit 2025, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Japan’s resistance to attacks and the war against the world anti-fascist war.
China is ready to strengthen high levels of interaction with Russia, support each other’s development and revitalize, adjust the position of issues, including both countries’ core concerns and timely concerns, and advance bilateral relations for greater development, XI said.
He notes that both sides need to leverage key projects to induce cooperation, develop exemplary collaboration projects, and promote deeper levels of integration, calling for the enhanced resilience and understanding of cooperation and full effort to integrate cooperation and overall cooperation.
The heads of state, which represent the victory of the world’s anti-fascist war, are fully evident in their responsibility as major victorious nations of World War II (World War II) and permanent resident of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, XI said. He also pointed out that they defend the outcome of the World War II victory and demonstrate their firm determination to protect the correct historical perspective on World War II.
Xi said that his aim in proposing the initiative was to work with like-minded countries to firmly protect the objectives and principles of the UN Charter and to create a more just and equitable system of global governance.
China and Russia need to further coordinate multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, SCO, BRICS and the G20, and jointly build communities that share the future of humanity, Xi said.
