In a video conference speech at the Eurasian Economic Union leaders’ summit, President Pezeschkian expressed his confidence that member states can establish a successful model of regional convergence, turning this historic opportunity into a pivotal moment for joint growth.
The President expressed his gratitude for the decision made at the previous leadership summit to grant Iran observer status. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic is committed to being an effective and reliable partner in regional economic relations.
Pezeschkian also highlighted the urgent need to abandon its policy of reconciliation against the Zionist regime in light of systematic and repeated violations of human rights.
Furthermore, he tackled the Zionist regime’s invasion of Iran, urging the international community, particularly the UN Security Council (UNSC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to adopt a more responsible approach to attackers and warmers.
The Eurasian Economic Forum will be held from June 26th to 27th, 2025 at the Minsk International Exhibition Centre in Minsk, Belarus. This forum coincides with the highest Eurasian Economic Council meeting attended by the EAEU state during Belarus’ 2025 Chairmanship.
The plenary session is titled “Strategy for Eurasian Economic Integration: Results and Outlook.” The forum’s programme includes six major theme blocks consisting of 35 events, with over 2,700 attendees from 33 countries. Topics include finance, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, technical regulations, veterinary science, EAEU markets, trade, transportation, customs regulations, public procurement and statistics.
The full speech by President Pezeschkian is as follows:
In the name of God, the most elegant and most merciful
Mr. Lukashenko, the respected Belarusian
First, I would like to express my gratitude to my dear people in Belarus who hosted a summit meeting of the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union. We would also like to thank Mr Saginteev and his colleagues of the Eurasian Economic Committee for preparing the arrangement for this summit. We are extremely sorry that we will not be able to participate in this important summit due to current developments.
Your excellence,
As you know, the Zionist regime has been engaged in brutal and illegal armed terrorist attacks on Iran’s Islamic Republic since June 13th.
The attack occurred amid indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme on Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme.
The US military attacks and the Zionist regime on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, under full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, constitute a blatant violation of all international rules, and irreparable blow to the position of the nuclear non-proliferation regime by permanent members of the Security Council.
In the Israeli regime’s attack on Iran, a series of illegal and criminal operations were carried out against their mission, university professors, and the military outside the civilians. Many civilians were marching in these attacks on residential areas, public infrastructure, hospitals and medical centers. Many others were injured.
Dear colleague,
During this 12-day war, Iranian forces under Article 51 of the UN Charter defended Iran’s noble people and national sovereignty and territorial integrity. If the Zionist regime’s attacks were unanswered, it could have led to a widespread, uncontrollable war in the region.
The international community, particularly the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency, must adopt a more responsible attitude towards invaders and warmers.
It is now more clear than ever that we must abandon our policy of reconciliation against the Zionist regime regarding systematic and repeated violations of human rights.
I feel that I need to be grateful to all countries who blamed these blatant attacks. Today’s union leaders’ summit is also a valuable opportunity to communicate the collective status of members in explicitly condemning these attacks and the regional and global threats that arise in the world.
Respected attendees,
Iran’s Islamic Republic has always strived to be effective, reliable members and partners in regional economic relations. Implementing a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union is an important step in deepening economic ties in the region. This contract offers extraordinary opportunities for the national economy and traders of the contracting country.
We would like to thank the leadership meeting for the decision before recognising the Islamic Republic of Iran for its status as an observer.
In the field of transportation, it aims to develop and modernize existing railway and road corridors, strengthen air transport, create special joint zones, and use the capacity of Iranian ports to connect union member states to the global market.
The energy sector focuses on collaboration between producers and consumers, leveraging existing capabilities to connect local energy networks.
In the modern field of technology, we will establish the infrastructure necessary to enhance digital technology cooperation, promote information exchange and new trade, organize artificial intelligence, and unilateral efforts in this field, and enhance our national and collective capabilities.
Without a doubt, fully exploiting the capabilities and benefits of free trade agreements is not easy without developing an independent, non-relief bank infrastructure. This framework could be on the agenda to fund joint infrastructure and industrial projects by the Eurasian Development Bank, expand the union’s financial distribution system to interested observer countries, and adopt a settlement system in national currency.
Dear colleague,
We believe we can portray a successful model of regional convergence and turn this historic opportunity into a turning point for joint growth. The future belongs to countries that open the way for progress through cooperation and mutual trust.
In conclusion, I wish this important meeting and success in prosperity, comfort and a bright perspective for the respected governments and people of the Eurasian Union.
Thank you for your attention.
MNA/President
