Press TV reported that Pezeshikian made this remark on X-Post on Friday, a day after Khamenei was committed to supporting Pezeshikian’s government, saying they had launched laudable initiatives and continued some of former President Ebrahim Raisi’s unfinished projects.
The president said, “We are grateful to our leaders for their support and guidance. Relying on the unity of the great Iranian nation and the efforts of all its institutions, the government is diligently pursuing the path of service and progress.”
Pezeshkian won Iran’s presidential run-off in July 2024 with more than 16 million votes.
He succeeded Raisi, who was martyred in a helicopter crash in May, triggering an early presidential election.
In his speech after his victory, Pezeshkian emphasized that the difficult road ahead will not be smooth without the “comradeship, empathy and trust” of the Iranian people.
In a televised address Thursday night, the party leader said President Pezechikian’s government was carrying a heavy burden on its shoulders and appealed to the public to support it.
