Vladimir Putin, who spent the previous year at the port of Vladivostok in China and Russia’s Far East, flew to Samara, southern Russia, where he met industry experts and toured the engine manufacturing plant for Kuznetsov Design Bureau aircraft.
Putin, cited in the Russian press, said Russia is a major force in the development of the aerospace industry.
“It is important to consistently update production capacity in terms of the engines of the booster rocket,” the agency cited Putin as saying late on Friday.
“And by doing so, we must not only meet our current and future needs, but also actively move to the global market and succeed in our competitors.”
President Putin pointed to Russia’s success in developing innovation, particularly in terms of engine production, in the energy sector, despite the imposition of sanctions by Western countries related to the Ukrainian War.
“In the conditions of restrictions from sanctions, we were able to develop a series of innovative engines for energy in a short period of time,” Putin cited. “These are actively used, including in terms of gas transport infrastructure.”
Putin called it a “very important theme.” The development of Russian gas exports in particular includes bringing Russian gas to China, including the planned forces of the Siberian two pipeline being discussed in China this week.
