Russian President Vladimir Putin has received Ali Laryani, senior adviser to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Kremlin leader, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to local Russian media.
According to Peskov, Iranian representatives provided an assessment of the escalating situation surrounding the Middle East and Iranian nuclear program.
Tehran-based Press Television then gave further details about the conference, with Pescob further saying that the Russian president has expressed “a famous position on how to stabilize the situation in the region and political reconciliation of Iran’s nuclear program.”
Meanwhile, the Russian president confirmed the meeting and said at the direction of Ayatollah Khamenei that Larijani had presented the current escalation of the region, particularly Iran’s views surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme.
Putin added that he expressed his support for stabilizing the situation in the region and resolving issues related to Iran’s nuclear program through political measures.
The meeting was held in a report that Iran and the European troika (France, Germany and the UK) have agreed in principle to hold fresh nuclear negotiations next week.
