The Russian president “emphasized the importance of supporting unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity in the Syrian Arab Republic, and strengthened internal political stability through respect for the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic and religious groups of the population,” according to the statement.
During the call, President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s preparations to help find a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue. The broader tensions in the Middle East (West Asia) were also discussed.
Moscow emphasized its solid stance that only peaceful solutions to regional conflicts can be considered, the Kremlin added.
