In a preview of upcoming interviews with Russian state television released on Telegram, Putin said Russia has the power and means to guide the Ukrainian conflict to “logical conclusions.”
In response to questions about Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, Putin said:
“We have enough strength and means to bring what began in 2022 to a logical conclusion with the results needed for Russia,” he said.
Putin signed an improved version of the Russian nuclear doctrine in November 2024, writing about the situation in which Moscow’s atomic arsenal, the world’s largest, can be used.
That version lowered the bar and gave it the option in response to traditional nuclear-backed attacks.
Russia and Ukraine are in conflict over competing ceasefire proposals.
Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky said in a comment released on Saturday that its announcement that Moscow will announce a 72-hour ceasefire in Ukraine next week and mark a World War II victory day is merely an attempt to create a “soft atmosphere” ahead of Russia’s annual celebration.
