The Kremlin said on Wednesday night that Putin had visited the command office in the Kursk region where Russia has taken over its territory as he attempts to drive out Ukrainian troops, the BBC reported.
Unusually for Russian leaders, he wears combat equipment. If it is confirmed that it happened in Kursk, it would be the first time Putin has visited the area since Ukrainian forces seized the territory in August.
Ukraine loses much of the land it originally captured and becomes holding what it holds.
The Ukrainian commander admitted that his country’s troops had pulled back from a certain position in Kursk.
As part of the settlement, Ukraine hopes to use the land held in Kursk as a negotiation tip to exchange for Russia’s Ukrainian territory.
