LONDON – By declaring the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as an international Quds day, Imam Khomeini (who Allah may please him) aimed to revive the capabilities of the Islamic world, form an inclusive front against Zionism, lay the foundations needed for the liberation of Palestine, and to lay the foundations needed to eliminate cancer in the region.
There have been various interpretations of this historic initiative, but what is truly noteworthy is what Imam Khomeini considers today as “the day of Islam’s life.”
The “Al-Aqsa Flood” manipulation, both in form and material, shows that in its consequence, the popular awakening to Palestine is increasing in the West, even in the West, despite spreading normalization, despair and promoting chaos.
This operation has confirmed that the Islamic world took QUDS Day and its message seriously, and is therefore subject to such a massive distortion and false information campaign.
The emergence of Islamic awakening in this region was one of the earliest concrete results of Imam Khomeini’s unique movements and strategies to establish the true importance of QUDS. He assured that QUD is not limited to Palestine. Over the years, the effects of Quds Day and Palestinian resistance have become apparent with anti-Zionist sentiment (not anti-Semies as Zionists try to mislead public opinion) and the unwavering support of Palestinian Islamic scholars.
Imam Khomeini saw the day of the liberation of Muslims from slaves to great powers as the day of Quds. In his speech, he frequently emphasized the importance of the country rising up and liberating Palestine.
Despite the years of war and sanctions imposed on Iran, Imam Khomeini’s compass was not shaken from QUDS. He remained immovable in search of its release and support.
Imam Khomeini called for the establishment of a World Party to pave the way for the liberation of Palestine. In his speech about International Quds Day, he said:
“We hope that a party named the Repressed Party will be formed all over the world and that all oppressed will join it to remove the obstacles and challenges that hinder progress.
The oppressed have been scattered for a long time and as long as the sector remains, they cannot take actual steps.
Today, a model of oppressed unity is being realized in one Muslim region. This model should be expanded to include all sectors of humanity on a broader and more comprehensive scale than ever before. This can be achieved by the formation of a “oppressed party” that was actually embodied in “Hezbollah.” This is a movement in line with God’s will, as expressed in God’s promise that the oppressed will inherit the earth.
Imam Khomeini identified serious mistakes made by Muslims, which led to the establishment of Israel. In 1979 he stated:
“The mistake made by all Muslims, especially the Arab government and state, was allowing Israel to exist from the beginning. The personal interests and ambitions of these governments prevented them from strangling Israel in their childhood. As a result, they gained the power they needed to resist, Israel.”
