Tehran – The historic building on Quiche Island will be converted into a museum dedicated to showcasing artefacts and art from the Islamic era, following a newly signed agreement between the Daffiné Museum Group and the Quiche Free Zone organization.
Inked by Hamidreza Soleimani, CEO of Dafineh Museums Group and Mohammad-Jafar Kabiri, CEO of Kish Free Zone Organization in Tehran on Monday, the agreement marks an important cultural initiative to establish the first museum on Kish island dedicated to Islamic civilization and heritage.
The Kish Free Zone Organization has officially entrusted the historic building to the Dafineh Museums Group to transform it into a cultural and historical exhibition space, Soleimani told the Tehran Times.
At the signing ceremony, Soleimani emphasized the importance of maintaining and displaying Iran’s rich heritage. “The Dafineh Museums Group is holding a precious collection of historical artifacts that should be introduced to the public, following the directions of the leaders of the Islamic Revolution,” said Soleimani.
“We currently operate 15 museums across the country and aim to expand this number. These museums are unparalleled across Iran and Western Asia,” he said.
Kabili emphasized the island’s multifaceted development strategy on his part, with a special focus on cultural tourism. “We strive to enhance the cultural appeal of Quiche Island. The honorable artifacts owned by the foundation can be displayed in important locations like Kish, which attract many international tourists,” he explained.
Kabilli also highlighted the importance of revitalizing unused historical sites across Quiche Island. “Many nostalgic spaces on the island are abandoned or lacking proper use. Turning them into cultural and museum spaces is the best approach to maintaining their importance,” he added.
Additionally, Kabili emphasized the need to incorporate storytelling into museum exhibitions. “A museum is more than just a collection of objects. Every artifact must tell a story, in addition to its charm and meaning,” he pointed out.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Kabilli revealed plans for an additional museum project on Quiche Island, saying three more locations have been identified for similar cultural initiatives. “We aim to create richer experiences in these places, and the Foundation can play an important role in this endeavor,” he said.
The Dafineh Museum Group is a collection of museums and cultural institutions managed by the Mostazafan Foundation.
Quiche Island, a major travel destination in southern Iran, is located at the northern tip of the Persian Gulf.
