At least 45 people were killed in severe thunderstorms and lightning strikes in Uttar Pradesh, the Indian era reported.
The incident occurred during heavy rains that hit Uttar Pradesh, media said.
The state government has directed commissioners of all departments to release compensation to the families of the deceased within 24 hours.
Local administrations were asked to assess crop damage and conduct a survey of the agricultural sector to submit the earliest report so that compensation could be released. More thunderstorm activity is expected through Monday, especially as light to moderate rain and gusts of wind could be possible, especially in the upper central and tilley areas.
The intense storm also led to the deaths of numerous parrots in Singhar village, Jansi on Thursday. Villagers said the large “pipall” tree near the temple was home to a large parrot population.
The sudden, intense weather event caused considerable interference that caused branches to collide, causing many nesting parrots to crash and injure them. District Forest Officer JB Shende said 70 parrots were confirmed dead, about 30 people were injured and had been seen by doctors, the report added.
