TEHRAN – Iran’s Lebanese ambassador Mojtaba Amani has denounced the push to disarm Hezbollah as a “clear conspiracy against the country” and warned that undermining deterrence would jeopardize sovereignty and state independence.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Amani said: “Disarmament projects are blatant conspiracy against the nation. The US has equipped its Zionist regime with sophisticated weapons and missiles, but simultaneously pressures other countries to undermine or dismantle their own military capabilities under various explanations.”
Amani emphasized Iran’s perception of the broader implications of such efforts. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully aware of the threat this plot will pose to regional security. We urge other countries who will not fall into traps set by their enemies.”
He concluded by highlighting the important importance of military deterrence. “Maintaining deterrence is the front line of defense for sovereignty and independence of any nation. We must not compromise on this line.”
