Several media outlets have reported that Hamas has agreed to a new ceasefire proposal with Israel, mediated by Egypt and Qatar.
The Palestinian Resistance Group has not yet issued an official statement regarding the acceptance of the proposal, but Palestinian sources report Hamas has approved it without major changes.
Based on previous patterns of negotiations, the latest announcement offers little certainty that the conflict is nearing the end.
Over the past two years, Hamas has accepted multiple ceasefire deals, including the release of Israeli prisoners and Palestinian prisoners, but Israel has rejected them and is now moving forward with military movements.
The main point of the competition was how long it lasted. Hamas called for a permanent halt of hostilities, but Israel promoted a short-term suspension.
Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement, including resuming the fatal March 18 airstrike that killed 436 Palestinians (mainly women and children), blocking humanitarian aid since March 2, cutting power to Gaza on March 9, and refusing to rescue prisoners despite the refusal to rescue prisoners despite fulfilling the hands of prisoners in the latter half of Hamas.
