Islamic revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khamenei made an important point in a televised speech last night. In this regard, it is important to note several points from this speech.
1. Regarding the 12-day war between Israel and the United States, he said, “In the 12-day war, the Iranian state undoubtedly defeated both the United States and the Zionist regime. They came and committed evil, but they returned defeated and empty-handed, achieving no objective.”
Although the most important goal of the Zionist regime and the United States in attacking Iran was the destruction of its nuclear facilities, the revolutionary leaders’ emphasis on the fact that they were unable to achieve this goal confirms that the United States and Israel were unable to achieve this goal. In a speech last month, in response to President Trump’s nonsense about annihilating Iran in the Zionist parliament, the leader said in short but meaningful words, “Keep dreaming.” These two recent positions of the leader of the Islamic Revolution demonstrate that the enemy has not been able to destroy Iran’s nuclear forces.
2. In this speech, the leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the heavy losses of the United States in the 12-day war, adding, “The reason why the United States suffered heavy losses in this war was because, despite using state-of-the-art offensive and defensive weapons, it failed to achieve its goal of deceiving the people and bringing them along. On the contrary, the unity of the people grew.” The reality on the ground also showed that in the military field, after Iran attacked Al-Udeid Air Base, the United States not only did not respond to Iran’s attack, but also immediately called for a ceasefire. Subsequently, the idea that the United States should move its military bases from the Persian Gulf to more distant locations, such as Diego Garcia Island, arose among American military elites to ensure their safety. At this point, any sense of reverence for the United States and its military bases has collapsed, and President Trump’s reputation has been irreparably damaged.
Moreover, the devastating missile attacks by Iran, especially after the seventh day, literally terrified the Israeli regime, forcing it to turn to the United States for relief. The regime also suffered between $20 billion and $21 billion in losses during its 12-day war with Iran.
3. Elsewhere in the speech, Khamenei referred to the inconclusive war in Ukraine as an example of US intervention, adding: “The current US president, who said he would resolve this war in three days, is now, almost a year later, imposing a 28-point plan on the country he dragged into the war.” In reality, the United States, as the main instigator of President Zelenskiy’s continued war with Russia, not only did not support Ukraine, but by imposing the 28-point plan on this country, it showed that it was trying to secure Russia’s opinion rather than supporting the policies of NATO and European countries. In fact, Mr. Trump first entered into negotiations with the Russian side, listened to their opinions, and then presented his plan. According to the plan, the important Donbass region and Crimea would be fully annexed into Russian territory, and if NATO accepts the plan, it would be the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s second major defeat after the occupation of Afghanistan.
4. The Islamic Revolution leader’s reference to U.S. efforts to “spark wars around the world over oil and underground resources, now reaching Latin America,” casts doubt on U.S. claims to be present around Venezuela to fight drugs, as the Trump administration’s pressure on Venezuela is essentially to gain access to the world’s largest oil reserves.
Reports from the United Nations and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) also emphasize that Venezuela is by no means a cocaine producing country. According to the annual report of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), of the approximately 3,700 tonnes of cocaine produced worldwide, more than 2,500 tonnes are produced in Colombia, and Venezuela is not even on the cocaine production map. The March DEA report also showed that 84 percent of the cocaine seized in the United States comes directly from Colombia.
5.Although Khamenei denied rumors that the Iranian government sent messages to the United States through third countries, he considered this to be a complete lie and said, “Such a government (the United States) is by no means a government that the Islamic Republic seeks cooperation or relations with.” This statement by the leader could become a speech chapter for those who use pen and speech to urge Iranian officials to negotiate directly with the United States. The experience of negotiating with the United States several times shows that this country has taken a hegemonic approach to negotiations during both the Republican and Democratic eras, and is only concerned with its own interests by relying on military, economic, and security power. It is clear that building and maintaining consensus among all domestic elements and political preferences not to cooperate with the United States in carrying out the directives of the leaders of the Islamic Revolution will continue to unite the nation and strengthen its confidence in confronting its enemies.
