Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araj and his delegation met with Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
During the meeting, Al-Araj conveyed the greetings of the Iraqi president and prime minister to General Pakpour, reaffirming Baghdad’s determination to implement the security agreement signed with Iran.
Al-Araji stressed that “Iraq’s security is Iran’s security,” categorically rejecting any misuse of Iraqi territory against Iran, and announced the establishment of a joint committee to monitor the implementation of bilateral security agreements and prevent illegal activities along the border.
He also referred to the recent Gaza ceasefire, expressing distrust of the Israeli regime and warning that the ceasefire agreement could be violated.
Al-Araj stressed that regional unity is the key to peace and stability, noting that during Israel’s recent 12-day invasion of Iran, the enemy expected domestic unrest, but the Iranian people demonstrated strong national unity and commitment to the principles of the revolution.
Major General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, also welcomed the Iraqi delegation, saying the talks were of great importance for Iraq at this time.
He warned that regional enemies were trying to weaken the country’s unity, saying that during the recent 12-day conflict, the Israeli regime tried to disrupt Iran’s unity through assassinations and disruption, but its plots were thwarted by the prudence of its leaders and the vigilance of the Iranian people.
Pakpour asserted Iran’s military readiness, saying that early in the 12-day conflict, adversaries expected Iran’s missile capabilities to be degraded, but Iran struck with force and precision, destroying its intended targets. He added that Iran is fully prepared to respond strongly to any future violations, declaring: “We will raise hell against our enemies.”
In the end, the two countries emphasized enhanced security cooperation and implementation of bilateral agreements, and Iraqi officials emphasized moral and political compliance with their commitments to Iran.
