Interfax News Agency quoted India’s national security adviser Ajit Doval saying New Delhi is looking forward to a visit from President Vladimir Putin by the end of the year.
At a Dovar meeting with Sergei Shog of the Russian Security Council, both sides emphasized the importance of the country’s relationship.
Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff on goods from India, which came into effect on August 28, showing the most severe slump in US-India relations since taking office in January, threatening to disrupt access to India’s biggest export markets.
“We are incorporating more active cooperation to form a new, just and sustainable world order, ensure the superiority of international law, and jointly combat modern challenges and threats,” Shoug told Doval in a television comment.
Interfax quotes Doval saying:
Since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, India and China have become the top buyers of Russian maritime crude oil, sparking Western efforts to suffocate the Russian economy.
