In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry rejected a recent Axios report claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin had encouraged Iran to accept a US-backed nuclear deal that completely eliminated its uranium enrichment program.
The report, citing an unnamed “source,” claimed Putin reportedly conveyed the position to both former US president Donald Trump and senior Iranian officials, expressing support for the nuclear framework that refrains from all enrichment activities, according to the Tehran Times.
Moscow has completely rejected the claim. “The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly denies these allegations,” the statement read. “We see this as part of a politically motivated disinformation campaign.”
The ministry stressed that Russia’s position on Iran’s nuclear program is consistently clear. The crisis surrounding the issue must be resolved through political and diplomatic channels alone. Moscow added that it remains committed to helping parties find mutually acceptable solutions.
“We call on international media to rely on official sources, conduct serious analysis and refrain from spreading false or misleading stories,” the statement continued.
An Axios article published on Saturday rekindled speculation about Russia’s role in the ongoing efforts to revive diplomacy between Tehran and Washington. The US outlet claimed that Putin signaled his support for a nuclear deal that would strip Iran of his ability to enrich uranium.

“It emphasizes that in the negotiated settlement, the nuclear rights of the people of Iran, especially the rich rights, are fully respected,” Aragut said. “We will never accept an agreement to rule out enrichment. This ability represents and is determined to maintain it, as a major scientific achievement by Iranian experts.”
Aragut pointed out that Iran has faced great outside pressure and even endured war in order to protect its peaceful nuclear advancements. “We paid a high price for this progress. We won’t abandon it.”
Despite these statements, the US government continues to argue that the new nuclear agreement with Iran should include the dismantling of Tehran’s enriched infrastructure.
In late June, Iran’s Constitutional Council approved a parliamentary bill regarding suspending cooperation with the IAEA after reports on Iran’s nuclear programme became lightning for Israeli invasions against the Islamic Republic.
Citing recent violations of Iran’s sovereignty and attacks on the integrity of its territory, the bill requires the government to suspend all cooperation with the IAEA.
The Israeli regime launched a blatant, unprovocative offensive act of aggression against Iran on June 13, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders and nuclear scientists in addition to civilians.
On June 22, the United States officially took part in the war with Iran by launching an attack on the country’s three nuclear facilities, violating the UN Charter and non-compulsory treaties.
