“I support the U.S. government’s plan for Gaza, which includes a cease-fire, the release of detainees, and the full restoration of humanitarian access,” Zakharova told reporters in Moscow, Al Jazeera reported, stressing the importance of fully implementing all terms of the proposal.
Zakharova recalled that Russia had previously submitted several draft resolutions to the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid. “These efforts were blocked by Westerners,” she noted.
She reiterated that stopping the violence and preventing further civilian casualties remains the top priority.
“We are convinced that the root cause of the tragic events in both Gaza and the West Bank is that the Palestinian people have been stripped of their sovereign right to determine their own destiny,” she said.
