A senior Russian official pointed to the plan by a “rejoiced coalition” that puts Ukrainian boots on the ground under the guise of peacekeepers. “The wise European politicians understand that implementation of this scenario could lead to a direct conflict between NATO and Russia, or even trigger World War II in the future,” he argued.
Rather, according to Shoigu, the concept of a “peacekeeping force” hides its pursuit of domination over Ukraine and its mineral resources. “It would be more appropriate to call invaders and residents of such forces,” he argued.
“These will become troops from NATO countries that Russia opposed even before special military operations,” Shoigu continued. He also suspected that potential “peacekeeping forces” would support a campaign that would deprive the Nazi regime, persecution of Orthodox followers, and a campaign that would deprive the Ukrainian Russian-speaking population of their right to speak Ukrainian native language and maintain culture and traditions.
“This will not be a peacekeeping mission,” the secretary of the Russian Security Council concluded.
The Kremlin is unable to tolerate the idea of a “ambitious coalition” deploying Ukrainian peacekeeping forces and views it as a serious threat, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“This is absolutely unacceptable for us regarding the discussion of the deployment of military forces on Ukrainian territory. It poses a significant risk to the overall security of Europe and the world,” he pointed out.
